Does your computer feel slower while you’re using CallBlitz?
We are always optimizing CallBlitz to use the least amount of computer resources possible, but a certain degree of overhead from a virtual salesfloor is unavoidable.
Here are some steps you can take to minimize your computer’s load:
1. Keep your number of open tabs to a minimum
- The more tabs you have open, the higher your Central Processing Unit (CPU) usage is, making your computer slower
- Having fewer tabs open in the background is a productivity hack for SDRs, because it can save you a lot of time not having to click around to find where you were at
2. Check which apps are using your CPU
- For Windows:
- Go to your computer’s task manager (Ctrl + Shift + Esc)
- Go to the “Processes” tab
- There you can see exactly which apps and processes are using up your CPU

- For Mac:
- Open up the “Activity Monitor” window on your Mac
- Click on “CPU”
- The “User” CPU shows how much of your CPU is utilized by apps and processes you have opened
- The “System” CPU shows how much of your CPU is utilized by processes that belong to your Mac

- You might have apps running in the background that you don’t need, that are using a lot of your CPU
- The general range of CPU usage you want to stay in is between 10% and 30%
- You might also have malware or viruses that contribute to your CPU usage
3. Check for driver updates
- For Windows:
- Go to Settings → Windows Updates → Check for updates

- For Mac:
- Go to Apple Menu → System Settings → General (found on the sidebar) → Software Update

4. Restart your computer
